Gil Meche, the Royals ace of the starting rotation, pitching his best game of the year in six starts as he and two relievers combined for a shutout Sunday of Cleveland winning 2-0.

Meche pitched seven innings allowing just four hits and not walking any batters.  Meche also came away with four strikeouts.  It was his longest outing of the year.  He went 6 2/3 innings against Toronto in his start prior to Sunday, but gave up three runs on nine hits.

Meche may be showing signs of turning his season around.  Back on the 22nd of April, these same Indians chased Meche in the fourth after he gave up eight runs on nine hits and a walk.

Its important Meche starts turning around his season if the Royals want any chance at a .500 season.  With Sunday’s outing and a better performance against Toronto, he may finally be turning the corner,

The Royals take two games from the Indians, with Friday’s game being postponed, to return to The K, 2 1/2 games behind Minnesota with a series starting tonight against LA of A.
