Jared Allen The Kansas City Star is reporting the Chiefs will complete a deal with the Minnesota Vikings for defensive end Jared Allen.  The Vikings will pay Allen for six years, just under $74 million with $31 million guaranteed.  It will be one of the largest contracts for a defensive player.

The Chiefs are expected to get Minnesota’s first round pick at 17, and both of the Vikings’ third round picks at 73 and 82.  That would give the Chiefs six of the first 82 players in the draft and 13 total picks.  The Chiefs are not confirming the trade.  This almost makes it certain the Chiefs will draft Chris Long of Virginia or Vernon Gholston of Ohio State.

Will the Rams keep the number 2 pick or trade it, now that the Dolphins have signed Michigan tackle Jake Long?  It could open the door for a deal with Dallas who wants Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.  Could Baltimore want the number 2 pick to draft Matt Ryan out of Boston College?  If the Rams keep it, they will probably select Chris Long of Virginia and that would leave Gholston for the Chiefs.
