The Missouri State Bears scored seven times in its final three at bats to earn a 9-6 win over 30th-ranked Oral Roberts Tuesday at Hammons Field in Springfield.

Tied 6-6 entering the bottom of the seventh, Missouri State got the winning run on third with no outs after a leadoff triple by Ben Woodbury. ORU used one reliever to walk Brayden Drake, another to get Ben Carlson out, and a third relief pitcher to get Chris Playter to hit into a RBI ground out that brought Woodbury home for the 7-6 lead. Matt Welch followed with a bouncer through the left side to plate Drake and get the lead back to two runs.

Josh Mazzola then led off the eighth with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch before scoring on Aaron Conway’s grounder to second to give the Bears a 9-6 lead entering the ninth.   Matt Frevert (5-1) struck out the side in the ninth, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam for the win.

The Bears play at Saint Louis at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
