Pujols' three run shot (Bill Greenblatt, UPI) The Redbirds’ Todd Wellemeyer is having the year of his life thus far.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt when your teammates go out and score 11 runs on your behalf.  That’s exactly what St. Louis did in support of Wellemeyer in last night’s 11-1 win.

The right-hander certainly did his part, allowing one run on just four hits in seven innings of work, but it was the offense that set the table early.  An Albert Pujols RBI in the first; a Chris Duncan’s two-run homer in the third; and then a six-run fourth inning, which including a Pujols’ home run that sailed into Big Mac Land.

The Cards’ 12 wins match the Diamondbacks’ total for the most in baseball.  They remain a game and a half up on the Cubs and Brewers in the Central Division.

They’ll look to continue their hot start this afternoon.  Joel Pineiro gets the ball for St. Louis, while San Francisco counters with Tim Lincecum.  It’s a 12:10 start at Busch Stadium.
