Charges have been filed against the co-owner of a Kirksville restaurant in what is being called a scheme to use fraudulent Social Security numbers to allow illegal immigrants to work at the restaurant.

Federal prosecutors have indicted 33-year-old Neftali Lopez, co-owner of El Vaquero restaurant, alleging that he hired his brother-in-law and five other illegals to work at the restaurant. The indictment claims Lopez knew the six were in this country illegally and alleges he instructed them to obtain false Social Security cards and resident alien or so-called green cards.
