The Cardinal bats were silent in game one of their four game series in San Francisco as the Giants won 5-1.  Adam Wainwright took the loss throwing seven innings.  Kevin Correia pitched 7.2 innings and allowed just five hits for the win.

The Cardinals couldn’t get much going offensively and looked like they lacked focus. They made two errors and were not crisp on the basepaths.  Wainwright battled the whole night, but four of his eight hits were extra bases.

The only Cardinals run came in the 9th when Troy Glaus doubled home Albert Pujols.

Joel Pineiro will get the start Sunday as he comes off the disabled list.  Sidelined since early spring with a shoulder strain, Pineiro has pitched well in rehab assignments and after a good outing earlier in the week with AAA Memphis, he was given the go ahead to rejoin the team.

Brad Thompson will go to the bullpen with Kelvin Jimenez likely to be sent to the minors.
