The Senate has approved, on a voice vote, the appointment of Kevin Gunn to serve as a Commissioner on the Public Service Commission.

A number of Senate Democrats had expressed concerns over the appointment of Gunn, who had planned a run for the Senate seat being vacated by Senate President Pro Tem, who is running for Attorney General. They felt Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) had made the appointment in an effort to prevent Democrats from winning a Republican-held seat in November.

The confirmation of the 37-year-old Webster Groves Democrat fills all five seats on the five member panel.
