When I first started my broadcasting career I remember calling a high school basketball game between Russellville and Pembroke Hill.  It was a state tournament game and we were covering the Russellville’s run in the playoffs on a local Jefferson City radio station and I remember watching in awe of how well the Rush brothers, Jaron and Kareem played that day.  After the game I said to someone how good they were and I can’t remember who the person was, but one thing that stuck in my head was when we he said, "You think these two kids are good, what until their younger brother Brandon grows up, he’s going to be the best player of three of them."  I wish I knew who said that too me.

We know about the off court struggles of the older brother Jaron who went to UCLA, and Kareem has settled into the NBA after being a star under Quin Snyder at Missouri, but whether or not Brandon does turn out to be the best Rush brother remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain, he has bragging rights in the family of being the only brother to be apart of an NCAA championship team.  Rush finished the game with 12 points and six rebounds, following up his 25 point game against North Carolina.

Did you find it surprising that just two days after losing to Kansas, Roy Williams was sitting at the National Championship game wearing a Jayhawk sticker?  It seemed odd that after getting beat by the team he once coached he would be outwardly showing his support, I don’t want to jump to conclusions and I’m sure his reasoning is simple, but I wondered how Tar Heels fans must have felt.

The only comparison I could come up with was going back to Kareem’s playing days with Snyder.  When Mizzou lost to Duke in the 2 nd round of the NCAA tournament, I wonder what Tiger fans would have thought if the one time Duke assistant would have shown up on national television with a Duke sticker.

Well, I did a little digging and it didn’t take long to find one blog .  Tar Heel fans are just that, fanatics.  I think it’s pretty funny they want Poplar Bluff native Tyler Hansbrough to leave because of this.

Oh, if only Missouri had controversy like this.
