The much-awaited process through which Missouri State basketball season ticket holders pick their seat locations in JQH Arena for the 2008-09 men’s and women’s basketball seasons is ready to begin.

Assistant Director of Athletics Padraic McMeel starts the process Tuesday (April 8) with a packet of material sent to the 3,200 Bears’ season ticket holders and the 2,400 Lady Bears’ season ticket holders outlining the process and the timetable for its completion.

"There’s a lot involved in this process and we want to make it as workable as we can for our fans," McMeel says. "We know there’s a tremendous amount of interest in seat locations in JQH and we’re confident we can satisfy the wishes of our fans through this process."

The information packet will precede a schedule of events including three town hall meetings to discuss the Select-A-Seat process, as well as two open houses for fans to get an initial look inside the main seating area of JQH Arena. After those events, season ticket holders will have individual appointments to pick the exact seats they want for the upcoming seasons.

Information packets to season ticket holders include an initial listing of each individual’s priority points which will determine the order in which people may pick seat locations. A system has been established through which fans receive

points based on several factors, including number of years as a season ticket holder, number of season seats held, Bears Fund participation and other contributions to the University. The packet also outlines ticket prices as well as the seat assessment that will be used for fans in obtaining seats in the various areas of the arena.

The timetable calls for fans to review their point totals and participate in the town hall meetings and JQH open house visits during April and May. Individual Select-A-Seat appointments for women’s basketball season ticket holders will take place between May 28 and June 27 and appointments for men’s season ticket holders will be from July 8 through Aug. 3.

JQH Arena will open in November with 11,000 seats, making it the largest on-campus basketball facility in the Missouri Valley Conference. Some 6,000 of these seats will be below the street level concourse in the lower bowl of the arena. JQH also has 32 luxury boxes and those have already been sold.

The 2008-09 Bears will be playing under first-year head coach Cuonzo Martin and will open their home season against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Nov. 22. The Lady Bears will be in their second season under head coach Nyla Milleson. The Lady Bears’ home opener in JQH is not yet finalized.
