Floyd Irons, former Vashon coach Vashon high school may be a step closer to forfeiting three of their state basketball titles.  St. Louis Public school officials reported to MSHSAA that former coach Floyd Irons had used at least five ineligible players on championship teams over five years.

A meeting was held at Tan-Tar-A resort at Lake of the Ozarks where school representatives shared their findings.  While there have been rumors for a number of years about Irons’ recruiting practices, nothing really came to light until September, when Irons plead guilty to federal charges of mail and wire fraud in a real estate scheme.  As part of a plea agreement, Irons was required to tell everything he knew about eligibility and recruiting violations at Vashon.

The three state titles that come into question at this point are in 2002 when Vashon beat DeSmet Jesuit, 2004 when they beat KC’s Kearney, and the latest in 2006, a state championship over Springfield, Kickapoo.  It’s possible those schools could now be awarded the state titles.
