Terry Allen entering his third year as Bears' head coach Four weeks of spring football practice at Missouri State University got started this past Monday with third year Bears’ head coach Terry Allen and his staff beginning preparations for the Bears’ 2008 season.

There are six starters on offense and nine on defense back from last year’s team. The first week also saw the resignation of Bears’ assistant coach Derrick LeBlanc. LeBlanc is leaving to take a position on the football staff at LSU as strength and conditioning coach. A graduate of Northwestern (La.) State who got his master’s degree from LSU in 2002, LeBlanc came to Missouri State in 2006 when Allen took over the Bears’ program. Allen will begin a search immediately to replace LeBlanc.

The Bears will go through 15 drills this spring, culminating in the Maroon and White Spring Game April 26 at Plaster Field.  The Bears will have workouts Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays of the next four weeks with additional Monday workouts also scheduled for April 14 and April 21. Weekday practices will begin at 3:30 p.m., with Saturday drills to start at 9:30 a.m. The practice schedule may be adjusted due to weather considerations.
