Governor's Mansion First Lady Melanie Blunt has launched the latest effort to restore the Governor’s Mansion. Mrs. Blunt says she and the Governor are committed to leaving the Mansion better than it was when they moved in three years ago. To that end, she is encouraging the Legislature to appropriate $3-million to support renovation efforts.

The repairs outlined include $780,000 to repair the mansard slate roof and replacement of flat, membrane-type roofs … $1.1-million to restore and repaint all windows, repair exterior masonry, and repair and paint all windows, trim, cornices, and columns … and $1.2-million for the partial replacement of the 23-year-old heating and cooling system that is malfunctioning and is well-beyond its life capacity, replacement of the first floor kitchen, and other interior repairs and painting.

The $3-million is available in a constitutionally-established Facilities Maintenance and Reserve Fund dedicated to repairing and preserving state buildings in Missouri.
