Tyler Hansbrough Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Phil Ford, Sam Perkins.  These are just a few of the great names in the history of the University of North Carolina Tar Heel basketball program.  Now, you can add another name to that list, Poplar Bluff native Tyler Hansbrough.  The 6’9, 250 pound junior will lead the number team in the nation into the NCAA tournament this week as quite possibly being the first Tar Heel to know he’s going to get his number 50 retired before he even finishes his playing career.

On the Tar Heels official website  it says about Hansbrough, that fans love him for his all-out effort and competitive fire • Teammates respect him for his work ethic, humility, heart and drive • The most focused player Roy Williams has ever coached.

I talked with Woody Durham, the voice of the Tar Heels Sports Network, to find out what people in Chapel Hill think of Hanbrough.  Many fans thought he would turn pro after his sophomore year.  Woody expects him to be back for his senior season, and you’ll be surprised to find out why!  Click on the link to hear the interview.
