Hideo Nomo was told after his Saturday outing against the Milwaukee Brewers that he will not be considered for the starting rotation in Kansas City this year.  Manager Trey Hillman then asked Nomo if he wanted to be released so he could attempt to catch on with another team as a starter.

Nomo said he liked the atmosphere and coaches around this ballclub and that he wanted to stick it out the rest of this spring to try to win a bullpen spot with the Royals.

As of now, Kyle Davies, John Bale, Brett Tomko, Jorge De La Rosa, and Luke Hochevar have all performed better than Nomo and all five of them are still in the hunt for the final two spots in the starting rotation.

Nomo gave up eight runs on 17 hits in 11 innings of work, but also struck out 11 hitters.  Had it not been for that stat, the 39 year old may have been gone for good.
