A man was killed and his wife sent to the hospital following an explosion that destroyed a house in Columbia. Firefighters responding to the blast found the home engulfed in flames. They then found the body of an 80-year-old man and his wife, who was rushed to University Hospital.

Neighbors identified the residents of the home as Carl and Merna Sneed. The cause of the explosion is under investigation, with a gas line suspected.
