The story of the death of a terrorist named Imad Mughniye might not mean much to Missourians, but many Missourians will recognize the name of Captain John Testrake.

Testrake was a TWA Airlines pilot from Richmond whose plane was hijacked and flown to Beirut with 145 passengers aboard in 1985. After two tense weeks, the hostage situation ended following the murder of an American Navy diver. But Testrake’s calm demeanor was credited with keeping a greater disaster from happening.

Mughniye was behind that incident.

Testrake died in 1996. Tuesday night, a car bomb went off in Damascus, Syria. Mughniye was in the car.
