Brock Olivo

The Missourinet has learned former Missouri Tigers and Detroit Lions running back Brock Olivo is considering a run for Congress. Olivo was drafted by the Lions in 1998 and played five years in the National Football League before retiring to work as a program manager and assistant political liaison in Washington, D.C., and later moved to Italy, where he worked as an international business consultant.

Olivo recently returned to Columbia and has been asked to consider running for the seat being vacated by Congressman Kenny Hulshof (R-MO). Olivo, who would run as a Republican, says he would be a citizen-politician, with the emphasis on citizen.

The 31-year-old Olivo has been married since May. He says he’ll spend the weekend with family and friends in Hermann before making a decision on whether to run. Another former Mizzou player, quarterback Corby Jones, is being courted by the Democratic Party to run for State Treasurer.
