Currier’s General Comments:

"The 2008 signing class is very good and I am very excited about the quality of this group. We have been able to get players that are talented enough to help us win the MIAA and numbers that will provide us excellent depth and competition at all positions.

There are many reasons for the success of our recruiting this year.

At Truman State University we are able to have student-athletes with high character and intelligence. A common theme amongst this phenomenal group of signees is the quality of character that they possess. In addition to being very good football players, we are fortunate to have recruited smart and excellent leaders who have the make up to build a championship chemistry. This is a very special group and we’re expecting big things from them. They provide so much optimism for the future of Bulldog football.

This was the best year that our staff has done recruiting. Our Recruiting Coordinator, Thomas Kearney, did an excellent job of organizing our recruiting, and all the coaches worked hard in putting a class together that will allow the future of Bulldog football to look bright. In addition, our current football team is comprised of quality young men and they attract other quality men. Our faculty & staff, Office of Admissions and community do an excellent job of making our recruiting visits very successful."

The Bulldogs added 20 players on the defensive side of the ball with eight defensive backs, seven linebackers and five linemen.

Twelve players are signed on offense with five offensive linemen, and two apiece in the skill positions of running back and quarterback and three wide receivers.

The Bulldogs will begin their 101 st season of football on Saturday, August 30 th when they host Missouri Science & Tech (formally Missouri-Rolla) at 7:30 p.m. at Stokes Stadium.  Truman will play three of their first four games at Stokes Stadium.  The Sept. 6 th game is still to be determined before opening up MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) play under the lights against Central Missouri (Sept. 13) and Northwest Missouri (Sept. 20). Stokes Stadium will be getting a new artificial turf surface installed over the summer.
