Ford Motor Company has gone back to the five-day work week at its Claycomo plant. Ford and the United Auto Workers’ union are in a spat about whether any employee working on a Friday will get overtime.
Ford and the union, as part of a restructuring a couple of years ago, went to a four-day, 10-hour work schedule. Ford says workers who build trucks on Friday should only get overtime if they’ve already worked 40 hours that week. The union says overtime should kick in on Fridays regardless of the hours worked in the first four days of the week.
Until the disagreement is worked out, Ford says it’s going back to five days, eight hours.
