Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) praises the State Transportation Department and improvements in roads and bridges as he addresses the 2008 Missouri Chamber of Commerce Transportation Conference, held today in Jefferson City.

The Governor told the audience those improvements have become quite evident in recent years … and the statistics show things are still getting better. Blunt adds that when he took office in January of 2005, more than 87 percent of Missouri’s roads were in less than good condition.

Blunt praises MoDOT’s work on such areas as installation of guard cables on Interstates to prevent cross-over accidents, creating rumble strips and reflective markings to alert drivers veering off course, and smoothing pavement to prevent accidents caused by poor roads.
