The Missouri political world is reeling from Tuesday afternoon’s shock from the State Capitol – Governor Blunt will NOT seek re-election. The announcement was made just minutes before state lawmakers were about to resume the legislative session following the Martin Luther King holiday.

Blunt Campaign Spokesman John Hancock says the Governor felt he had accomplished what he set out to accomplish and wants to move on to another chapter in his life. Hancock says he believes Blunt made his decision recently, perhaps in the last week or so. He adds he believes it is a decision with which the Governor is comfortable. Governor Blunt holds a news conference this morning to discuss his decision.
