Legislative Democrats respond to Governor Blunt’s State of the State Address with less than complimentary language.

Democrats took exception to several aspects of the speech and budget, with particular concerns expressed over his call for all Missourians to have access to health care.

Following the Governor’s speech, Senate Democratic Leader Maida Coleman (D-St. Louis) asked why the man who had cut tens of thousands of Missourians from Medicaid in 2005 and made further cuts in subsequent years wants to restore coverage in an election year. House Democratic Leader Paul LeVota (D-Independence) took his own shots at the Governor, saying that while Blunt claimed to want to save the safety net, it is the Governor who, according to LeVota, "Cut a hole in that safety net in 2005."
