The Missouri Tigers upset #12 Texas 97-84 in the Big 12 opener at Mizzou Arena.  The Tigers shot 70% in the second half as six Tigers scored in double figures including a team high 18 from Keon Lawrence.

The Saint Louis Billikens did a lot better than their 20 point output last week in their Atlantic 10 opener against George Washington, taking #17 Dayton to overtime, but got outscored 13-2 in OT and fall 68-57 Saturday in St. Louis.  Much better effort by Rick Majerus’s Billikens. 

The Missouri State Bears lost to Drake 65-54.  13 th win in a row for Drake.  That team was predicted to finish 9 th in Missouri Valley Conference, but they find themselves in first place.

Drake Reed and Fernandez Lockett each scored 23 points to lead Austin Peay to an 85-82 win over Southeast Missouri State in a battle for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Central Missouri Mules used a 21-0 second half run to come from behind and hand the Missouri Southern Lions their first MIAA loss, 83-72 on Saturday afternoon in Warrensburg. It was the 31st consecutive win for Central Missouri in the Multipurpose Building and it marks two full years since its last loss there.

Northwest Missouri State fought back from 13 points down and took a brief lead, but it was Washburn that came away with a 61-56 win Saturday at Bearcat Arena. Northwest guard Lance Sullivan led all scorers with 17 points. The Ichabods (10-3, 2-2 MIAA), who finished last in the MIAA standings a year ago, have beaten both defending co-champions in one week’s time. Washburn beat Central Missouri back on Jan. 5.

The Truman men’s basketball team got hot with a 9-0 run after Missouri Western took a three-point lead and never looked back as they defeated the visiting Griffons 73-65.  Nick Certa led the ‘Dogs with 24 points as Truman evened their conference record to 2-2.

The SBU Bearcats defeated Fort Hays, 86-53, to pick up their 10th win of the season.  SBU’s Jim Grabowski scored 22 points, which included a 4 of 5 performance from the 3-point line. Grabowski also grabbed 7 rebounds. SBU’s Matt Rogers added 13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 7 blocks.
