The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is recognizing 15 individuals for their sports acheivements and accomplishments to Missouri sports.  One of those honorees is former Royals catcher John Wathan.  He played 10 years with guys like Willie Wilson and George Brett.  He says he’s being honored for his longetivity, consistency, and his ability to be versatile in the field, something he says today young ballplayers lack.

I spent some time with John on the phone this morning.  We talked about Goose Gossage and the hated Yankees, what do catchers say to pitchers when they visit on the mound. You see managers flashing all of those signs from the dugout…sometimes they don’t mean anything!.  I really had a great conversation with him, and I hope you enjoy the interview.
