Reporters get a chance to ask Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) about a lawsuit filed by former deputy legal counsel Scott Eckersley against Blunt and several staffers in the Governor’s Office.

But the Governor wasn’t very forthcoming on the subject of the suit, preferring to talk about how his administration does a good job of retaining e-mails as a requirement of the state’s Sunshine Law.

Eckersley’s suit claims there was a deliberate effort, in the Governor’s office, to destroy e-mails … and that Eckersley was fired because he blew the whistle on what was going on.  During a morning news conference in the State Capitol, Blunt was asked repeatedly about the allegations, saying several times it would be inappropriate to respond to accusations in a lawsuit.
