The health care advocacy organization Families USA has unveiled a report showing more than 1.225-Million people in Missouri families will spend more than 10 percent of their pre-tax income on health care costs in 2008.

Families USA Executive Director Ron Pollack says this number represents an increase from 844,000 people in the year 2000. And, he says the vast majority of these Missourians who will pay 10 percent or more already have health coverage.

In addition to the large amount of Missouri families paying at least 10 percent of pre-tax income for health care, Families USA projects there will be 341,000 people paying at least 25 percent of pre-tax income on health care.
