In the retail business today is known as Cyber Monday – the online equivalent of Black Friday. It’s one of the busiest sales days of the year for online retailers.

Missouri Retailers Association President David Overfelt says this day has probably grown out of the fact many people get together with families and friends over the Thanksgiving weekend to exchange gift ideas … and end up buying gifts online, rather than by visiting the traditional brick and mortar stores.

Those traditional brick and mortar retailers realize that a lot of people are too busy to shop in person and would rather shop from the comfort of their own homes. So, they are joining the stampede to Internet sales and are offering online bargains.

Overfelt says 72 percent of online retailers – both online only and brick and mortar – are offering Cyber Monday sales … up from 43 percent just two years ago.
