Missouri gets a healthy chunk of change from the federal government to provide people seeking treatment for drug and alcohol abuse. Missouri will receive $14.2-Million over three years in new grants under the federal Access to Recovery program.

Mark Stringer, Director of the Division of Alcohol Abuse with the State Department of Mental Health, says this program is voucher driven. The money goes through the Department of Mental Health to the recognized organizations that aid in recovery efforts. Stringer says someone wanting to clean up can visit any of the state’s certified treatment agencies to have an assessment. The assessment would then lead to the issuance of a voucher or series of vouchers.
