The St. Louis Rams went after their third straight win following an 0-8 start to the season as they hosted the Seattle Seahawks at Edward Jones Dome. But it was not to be as the Seahawks held on for a 24-19 win.

The Rams got on the board first when Adam Carriker tackled Maurice Morris in the Seattle end zone to give St. Louis an early 2-0 lead.

The Rams added 7 when Steven Jackson ran 53 yards for a touchdown and Jeff Wilkins added the extra point. Jackson’s TD was the only play of the drive. St. Louis 9, Seattle 0.

Seattle responded, seconds later, as Josh Wilson ran back the kickoff 89 yards for the major. Josh Brown’s PAT made it St. Louis 9, Seattle 7.

Rams’ starting quarterback Marc Bulger left the game shortly after that when he suffered a concussion.

The Rams went up 16-7 with :28 left in the 1st quarter as Gus Frerotte, filling in for Bulger, fired a 15 yard touchdown pass to Isaac Bruce to cap a 6 play, 30 yard drive. Wilkins booted the extra point. The 1st quarter ended with the Rams up by 9 points.

St. Louis added 3 more in the 2nd quarter as Jeff Wilkins sliced the uprights with a 23 yard field goal to put the finishing touches on a 12 play, 60 yard drive. St. Louis 19, Seattle 7. That was the score after the 1st half.

The Seahawks scored the first points of the 3rd quarter as Brown connected on a 33 yard field goal to cap a 9 play, 51 yard drive, making it St. Louis 19, Seattle 10.

The Seahawks then drew to within 2 points as Deion Branch caught a 9 yard touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to wrap up a 5 play, 67 yard drive. Brown’s extra point made it St. Louis 19, Seattle 17. That was the score as the teams entered the 4th quarter.

In the 4th, the Seahawks went on top with just under 6 minutes to play as Leonard Weaver ran it into the end zone from 5 yards out with Brown’s extra point making it Seattle 24, St. Louis 19. The touchdown drive consumed 10 plays and went 80 yards.

The Rams had a chance to win it as the game came to a close. On a 4th and goal at the Seattle 1 yard line, with half a minute to go, Frerotte fumbled the ball at the 5 yard line and fell on it. The ball went over to Seattle and the Seahawks ran out the clock for the win.

The Rams (2-9) host the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday under the Dome.
