Former State Supreme Court Chief Justice Chip Robertson says he hasn’t decided whether he will help represent former Blunt Administration attorney Scott Eckersley.

Eckersley was fired as deputy general counsel in the Governor’s office. Eckersley says he was fired, because he challenged the governor’s e-mail retention policy. The governor’s office insists he was fired for poor work performance.

Robertson, who served as then-Governor Ashcroft’s Chief of Staff, says Eckersley is not a client of his at this time. Robertson says he must know more before committing to such a case. He does acknowledge that Eckersley’s lawyer, Steve Garner of Springfield, has asked him to join in any potential legal action over Eckersley’s firing.

The governor’s office has filed a complaint with the State Supreme Court that claims Eckersley has violated attorney rules by disclosing advice given to the governor.
