The federal government gets half a loaf in its mortgage fraud case against former Jackson County Executive Katheryn Shields and her husband. A jury has acquitted them after 26 hours but has convicted two co-defendants. Shields says her prosecution was politically-motivated.
She and her husband had been among 11 people charged in the case. Six pleaded guilty and testified in the trial.
