Increasing concerns over antibiotic-resistant infections caused by a bacteria nicknamed the superbug have prompted Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO) to take steps to increase prevention efforts.

The Governor points out that while the superbug should not be taken lightly, it is an infection that can be prevented. Those prevention measures include practicing good hygiene and avoiding personal items such as towels and razors. Blunt adds there is good news in that the superbug, when diagnosed early, can be treated with antibiotics.

In addition, the State Health Department will begin providing information on good hygeine and offer advice on when it is necessary to seek medical attention to deal with this so-called superbug.
