The St. Louis Cardinals are saying their search for a new GM may go beyond the World Series, a little longer than their two-three week timetable they set in early October.  Could be, they’re waiting for the Indians to finish up so they can at least interview Cleveland’s Assistant GM Chris Antonetti who may be on the Cardinals short list of names.  What does this do for LaRussa.  The tone has changed a bit.  He talking with president Bill DeWitt on a daily basis, while no one is saying for sure, all the talk seems to be leaning toward LaRussa returning.

Rick Hahn who is the assistant GM for the White Sox and Arizona assistant Peter Woodfork are two other names surfacing as possible candidates.  Hahn works under Kenny Williams and of course the Sox won in 2005.  Woodfork apart of that big turnaround with Arizona and Antonetti’s team is one game away from going to the World Series.  It doesn’t mean these guys would bring instant success to the team, but they are men at least familiar with righting organizations in recent seasons.
