Fifty-six weeks from now we’re going to have an election and Matt Blunt and Jay Nixon are likely to run against each other for Governor.

More than a year before that election, the two candidates have raised more than $13-Million and have spent $4-Million. Latest campaign contribution reports show Blunt has raised almost $9-Million and Nixon has raised about $4.2-Million. Blunt has spent almost $3-Million dollars; Nixon has spent about $1.6-Million.

The State Ethics Commission is working on orders that could force both candidates to give back a lot of their money – Blunt more than Nixon – from donations that exceed the state campaign donation limits.
