Royals starting pitcher Kyle Davies was rolling along through the first four innings.  Heading into the fifth up two runs, the wheels came off.  Davies made it just a third of an inning in that fifth and Brandon Duckworth didn’t fair much better as the Sox sent 14 batters to the plate and hit three home runs in an eleven run fifth inning.  Of course that was all they needed in an 11-3 win.

Third baseman Alex Gordon connected on a two run homer in the second to give the Royals the early lead.  Davies was pitching well for the second straight start, getting ahead of most hitters and making good pitches.  As Davies noted, the Sox just hit everything he threw at them.

The Royals fall back into last place a half game behind the Sox.  They have six more meeting with the Southsiders this season.  Gil Meche starts game two tonight.  Five more innings will give the $55 million dollar free agent 200 innings, a goal he set for himself in spring training.
