The Royals losing streak has now reached 7.  The Twins scored 3 in the 6 th to pull ahead for good.  Royals starter Kyle Davies couldn’t finish the 6 th inning and left after throwing 98 pitches.  Rookie 3 rd baseman Alex Gordon went 4 for 4, a season high .258 batting average.  The Royals lost 7 in a row in late May, then went 43-40 prior to this last stretch.  Manager Buddy Bell  hopes this setback doesn’t overshadow that good stretch over the summer.

Kyle Davies continued to be hurt by walks, letting the leadoff hitter reach with a free pass in three of the six innings he started.  Two of those runners would score.  Bell says Davies is pitching better, but must try to lower his pitch count.  He left after starting the sixth inning having thrown 98 pitches.  Davies says he may need to be more agressive with hitters and perhaps that pitch count will be in the 60’s or 70’s by the sixth.
