Alex Gordon’s bases loaded single in the top of the 1 st inning provided all the runs the Kansas City Royals would need as they blasted the Texas Rangers 8-1 Monday night in Arlington.

On the night, Gordon had 3 hits and 4 runs batted in. Mark Teahen and Ross Gload each had 3 hits, as well. One of Gload’s hits was his 7 th home run of the season in the 8 th inning.

Starter Zack Greinke (6-5) pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing 5 hits, for the win. Kameron Loe (6-11) gave up 2 earned runs in 3 innings to take the loss.

The Royals (62-75) and Rangers (63-74) play again Tuesday night in Arlington. Billy Bucker (0-0) makes his first Major League start for the Royals, while Kevin Millwood (9-11) takes the mound for Texas.
