The Minnesota Twins scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 5 th inning to come from behind to down the Kansas City Royals 6-4 Saturday at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. It was a game that started just after 11 o’clock to allow groundskeepers to make the necessary stadium alterations to get the facility ready for a Saturday evening Minnesota Golden Gophers college football game.

Mike Sweeney, Billy Butler, Shane Costa, and Tony Pena each had a pair of hits for the Royals. Alex Gordon belted his 12 th home run in a losing cause.

Minnesota starter Carlos Silva (11-13) allowed 3 earned runs on 8 hits in 6 innings to get the victory. Joe Nathan pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn his 29 th save. Brandon Duckworth (2-4) took the loss, giving up 6 runs, 5 of them earned, on 8 hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The Royals (60-75) and Twins (69-67) wrap up their four game series Sunday at the Metrodome. Brian Bannister (11-7) goes to the mound for K.C. against Minnesota’s Boof Bonser (6-11).
