A 2-run home run from Jim Thome and solo shots from Danny Richar, and Paul Konerko led the Chicago White Sox to a 5-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night at Chicago’s U.S. Cellular Field.

Emil Brown had the best bat for the Royals, going 2-for-3, driving in both Kansas City runs.

Chicago starter Javier Vazquez (11-6) pitched 6 innings, allowing both K.C. runs – 1 of them earned – to get the win. Bobby Jenks pitched a perfect 9 th inning to pick up his 35 th save. Leo Nunez (2-1) gave up 4 earned runs on 6 hits in 4 innings to take the loss.

The Royals (55-70) and the White Sox (56-69) play again tonight on Chicago’s South Side. Brian Bannister (9-7) pitches for the Royals against White Sox starter Jose Contreras (6-15).
