Missouri’s corn farmers have planted about one-third more acres this year than they did last year, and the anticipated harvest will reflect that.

The Missouri Corn Growers Association thinks the corn harvest in Missouri this year could hit about 460-Million bushels, second only to the crop in 2004.

Association Marketing Director Gary Clark says recent hot weather is taking a little out of the crop, but the outlook is still good.

The increase in acres plant means fewer acres planted this year in cotton in the Bootheel. He says farmers also rotated out of some bean acres. And some farmers put in corn on land that had grown milo and wheat.
