The Toronto Blue Jays jumped out to a 4-0 lead by the 6 th inning and allowed Kansas City only 1 run the rest of the way as the Jays dumped the Royals 4-1 Sunday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Kansas City’s lone run came on Alex Gordon’s 10 th home run of the season to break A.J. Burnett’s shutout bid in the 8 th inning. Gordon’s blast was 1 of only 4 hits the Royals could muster on the evening.

Burnet (6-6) pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing 3 hits, including the Gordon homer, for the win. Royals’ starter Brian Bannister (8-7) was knocked out after 4 2/3 innings, having given up 3 earned runs on 7 hits.

The Jays have won 2 of 3 games in this four game series that continues Monday night at the K. Odalis Perez (6-11) takes the mound for K.C. against Toronto’s Jesse Litsch (4-4).
