Behind the pitching of Kip Wells, the St Louis Cardinals posted a 2-1 victory over the San Diego Padres last night at Busch Stadium.
Wells, who has struggled most of the season, shinned allowing just an unearned run while scattering six hits to pick up the victory.
Albert Pujols and juan Encarnacion drove in runs for St Louis.
