The Kansas City Royals make it two wins in a row over Texas, edging the Rangers 6-5 Saturday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Texas took the early lead on a 2 run homer by Nelson Cruz, his 4 th home run of the year. The Royals tied it up in the bottom of the 2 nd , then exploded for 4 runs in the 3 rd to jump  out to a 6-2 lead. Texas got 1 back in the top of the 4 th and that was all the scoring until the 9 th inning.

In the 9 th , the Rangers made it interesting, scoring 2 runs to make it a 1 run game. But that was as close as it would get as the Royals held on for the 6-5 victory.

Kansas City starter Odalis Perez (6-9) pitched 6 innings for the win, allowing 3 earned runs on 7 hits while striking out 4. Octavio Dotel pitched 1 inning of relief, giving up 2 earned runs, o pick up his 11 th save. Texas starter Kevin Millwood (7-9) lasted only 2 2/3 innings, giving up 6 earned runs on 9 hits to take the loss.

The Royals and Rangers tangle one last time in their weekend series Sunday afternoon at the K as the Royals try for the sweep. Leo Nunez (0-0) goes to the mound for the Royals against the Rangers’ Kameron Loe (5-8).
