A federal appeals court says Joseph Franklin, described as a white supremacist serial killer, should not get a new murder trial because he represented himself in the first trial and waived all rights to appeal his conviction.

Franklin was tried ten years ago for murdering a Chesterfield man. He asked the jury to sentence him to death and said he’d kill somebody else if the jury did not do that.

The jury convicted him and sentenced him to be executed. Although Franklin waived appeals, other lawyers involved in the case did appeal.
