The St. Louis Cardinals scored 5 runs in the top of the 10 th inning Sunday night at Turner Field to down the Atlanta Braves 7-2 and even the teams’ four game weekend series at two wins apiece.

And, it was the long ball that was responsible for all 5 10 th inning runs. Skip Schumaker hit his 2 nd home run of the season – a two run shot, followed by Scott Rolen’s 5 th homer – a three run blast. In fact, it was going deep that put the Cardinals into extra innings in the first place. Albert Pujols smacked his 22 nd home run in the 8 th inning to tie the game at 2-2 at that point. Kelly Johnson hit his 10 th homer for the Braves.

Jason Isringhausen (4-0) pitched 2 perfect innings out of the bullpen to pick up the win. Tyler Yates (2-2) gave up 4 earned runs in 1/3 of an inning in the 10 th to take the loss.

The Cardinals (45-50) have Monday off before hosting the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Kip Wells (4-12) takes the mound for St. Louis against Chicago’s Carlos Zambrano (12-7).
