After hearing all the hype surrounding the Philadelphia Phillies 10,000 losses, thanks to the Cardinals 10-2 win on Sunday night, I was curious to know where the Cardinals ranked, and who was next on the list for 10k in the L column.  A few months ago, a friend pointed me in the direction of www.baseball-reference.com .  So I decided to take a peek at the records and here’s what I found out.

The San Francisco Giants (also known as the NY Giants, and NY Gothams) have the most wins with 10,151.

The Cardinals with 9,806 wins, fair pretty well, but are third in line for 10,000 wins behind the Dodgers at 9,846 wins and surprisingly, the Chicago Cubs, who should pass 10,000 wins sometime next season, sitting at 9,947.

The next team likely to lose 10,000 games, the Atlanta Braves who sit at 9,681.  By the way, the Cubs are next in line at a distant third at 9,425 losses…The Cardinals have 9,158 losses.

Finally, the team with the best record overall…no surprise, the Yankees, 9,334 wins, 7,138 losses for a winning pct. of .567.
