The St. Louis Cardinals salvage the finale of their three game weekend series against Philadelphia, downing the Phillies 10-2 Sunday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. In so doing, the Redbirds handed the Phillies the 10,000 th loss in the history of the franchise.

The Cardinals won the game with the long ball, hitting 6 home runs. Albert Pujols blasted 2 of them, hitting his 19 th and 20 th round trippers of the season, his 3 rd and 4 th of the series. Home runs were also hit by Chris Duncan, his 17 th ; Juan Encarnacion, his 7 th ; Adam Kennedy, his 1 st ; and Ryan Ludwick, his 7 th . Michael Bourn hit a home run for the Phillies.

Adam Wainwright (8-7) pitched 7 shutout innings for the win. Philadelphia starter Adam Eaton (8-6) took the loss, giving up 6 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings of work.

The Cardinals (41-47) head to the Sunshine State to open a series with the Florida Marlins on Monday. Braden Looper (6-7) goes to the mound against Florida’s Byung-Hyun Kim (4-4).
