Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) responds to comments from Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff that he has a "gut feeling" of a new period of increased risk of al-Qaida terrorist attacks in the United States.

McCaskill won’t share any of the intelligence information to which she has had access, but does say the Chertoff comments point to a need to focus attention on protecting the homeland and to shift attention away from other Iraq and other areas.

Chertoff made the comments to the editorial board of The Chicago Tribune, basing his assessment on earlier patterns of terrorist activity in Europe and on intelligence he would not share.
