There might be a bit of a respite from the heat wave as temperatures dip slightly, but we’re not even halfway through July, so the sweltering weather will be back and can be expected to stay with us for some time. And, the State Health Department is encouraging Missourians to get out of the heat and to seek some cooler, more confortable surroundings.

Lori Harris-Franklin, a senior epidemiology specialist with the Department, says there is some good news in that nobody in Missouri has died from the heatwave. The Department is advising people, especially senior citizens and very young people, to find air conditioning.

Anyone who doesn’t have air conditioning at home is urged to find a place which has air conditioning. Local libraries, movie theaters, shopping malls, grocery stores, and senior citizen centers are among places in which air conditioning is likely to be found.
