The St. Louis Cardinals bounce back from a three run deficit to edge the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-4 Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

Chris Duncan hit his 16 th home run and Brendan Ryan belted his 2 nd homer in the 7 th inning to pull the Cardinals to within a run of the Snakes. The Redbirds then scored twice in the 8 th to go on top.

St. Louis starter Brad Thompson, who was not involved in the decision, pitched 7 innings, giving up 4 earned runs on 7 hits. Ryan Franklin (3-0) pitched 1 scoreless inning to pick up the win. Jason Isringhausen pitched a scoreless inning to earn his 16 th save.

The Cardinals (38-43) and Diamondbacks (47-39) wrap up their four game series Thursday night at Busch Stadium. Adam Wainwright (6-7) goes to the mound for the Redbirds against Arizona’s Doug Davis (5-9).
